The Alumni Association of Uva Wellassa University is thrilled to announce the 3rd UWU Legends League, taking place on March 1st, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Shalika Ground, Narahenpita. This cherished tradition unites alumni from 14 graduating batches for a thrilling cricket tournament, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship.

The Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, is 14th the National University of Sri Lanka, Offering 13 Undergraduate programmes to around 2000 students in four academic years.. Although proudly rooted in Badulla, Sri Lanka, our community and impact are global.

We, being the national leader in Value Addition to the new learning and teaching skills to the Undergraduates and Postgraduates students and we promote their value to society and natural resources, and the economy through knowledge creation and exchange.

Our passion for increasing access to the Skilled and educated expertise to the national economy and transform the lives of Sri Lankan graduates to address the global challenges of the future.

Our Responsibility

Scholarship

Alumni Association of Uva Wellassa Univeristy as a part of its social responsibility, is initiating scholarship programme for undergraduate students of UWU by eliminating or reducing financial barriers to ensure academic success.

As a UWU graduate you can access a Alumni Association for business services, mentoring, career guidance, continuing professional development and state-of-the-art technical facilities to consultancy, technology, value addition and research and development. .

Celebrating Professor D.K.D.D. Jayasena’s Remarkable Achievement

Prof. D.K.D.D. Jayasena has been named among the world’s top 2% scientists, a prestigious recognition published by Elsevier. This award is a testament to his remarkable contributions in the field of Animal Science. Professor Jayasena is currently affiliated with the Department of Animal Science in the Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture. Among a select group of 42 distinguished researchers from Sri Lanka featured in this elite 2% category, Professor Jayasena’s inclusion is a source of immense pride for the Uva Wellassa University and the entire scientific community of Sri Lanka. Department of Animal Science, UWU represents FIFA World Cup 2022

Dr.Kaushalya Wijayasekara, a Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Animal Science, Uva Wellassa University was privileged to be a part of the Food Safety team of FIFA World Cup 2022 which was held in Qatar. The Football World Cup is the most prestigious association football tournament in the world. This event is considered as the most widely viewed and followed single sporting event in the world
